- About us
CorePractice helps organisations understand and manage the social aspects of their ESG performance. Our work includes due diligence, strategic advisory support and helping organisations identify where systems need to evolve so they can deliver more consistently across complex project environments
We support companies seeking clearer visibility of social risks and opportunities and a structured way to incorporate these considerations into broader planning and decision making. With extensive experience in mining and development, we help organisations recognise what is working, where strain is emerging and what steps will strengthen their practice.
CorePractice is built on the view that strong social performance comes from clarity and integrity in the way decisions are shaped and implemented. Our role is to help organisations put those foundations in place and support teams as they apply them.

Get to know Gemma Newall
CorePractice was founded by Gemma Newall, a social performance and ESG practitioner with nearly two decades of experience working across mining regions in Australia, the Pacific, Africa and beyond. Her career has taken her from remote project sites where she lived and worked, through to senior roles in corporate offices where strategic decisions influence the direction of entire portfolios. This breadth gives her a clear view of how social performance needs to operate at every level of an organisation.
Gemma has supported organisations through major transactions, project approvals, resettlement programs and complex stakeholder environments, always with an emphasis on clarity, risk awareness and responsible practice. Having seen both the pressures on the ground and the expectations that come from executives, regulators and lenders, she understands how to align organisational commitments with the systems and processes that make them achievable.
